Dieter De Lathauwer is Senior Policy Advisor at FOD VVVL / SPF SPSC, specialising in construction products and environmental policy. He has chaired CEN/TC 350 (the European standardisation committee on sustainability of construction works) since 2021 and leads its work on sustainability standards for the built environment.
With nearly 25 years’ experience in national and EU construction policy, Dieter has:
• coordinated Belgium’s position on environmental aspects of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR),
• served on EU expert groups (Dangerous Substances, CPR Acquis Steering Group, Commission Expert Group on Sustainability),
• been the initiator and coordinator of the Belgian EPD program (B-EPD).
Dieter has a background in industrial construction engineering, product certification, and quality auditing, and specialises in environmental impact assessment, indoor air quality, EPDs and LCA. He drafted two royal decrees on environmental claims/product declarations and indoor-air emission limits, and he initiated and coordinates the Belgian EPD programme.
